Cream Cake Book Bag
How much do you love your books? Enough to treat them to this funky bag to travel around in? More than cream cakes? The little bear on this bag is deep in his murder mystery novel - "The Mystery of the Missing Bear" by Agatha Bruin - and is assured that the climax will "make your claws tingle." All that and a delicious-looking cream cake too - bliss!
You can use this bag for other things too of course. It measures 14" x 10" (34cm x 24cm) and has a 4" (10cm) gusset. This means it's large enough to take an A4 one inch ring binder plus pens, ruler and other sundries, or quite a few smaller books. It's nice and strong too - the outside is made from vintage linen and it's lined with a delicious Laura Ashley oilcloth fabric, so keeping the contents safe and dry.
We've found a great source of European Vintage Mangle Cloths which we carefully wash and press before crafting our aprons, bags and anything else we're going to make with them. Mangle cloths were used with old roller ironing presses called mangles. These wonderful linen fabrics, which are about 3m long, 90cm wide and 60 to 100 years old, were used to protect other fabrics as they passed through the mangle.
Please remember that antique linen has inherent irregularities, which just enhance its natural beauty and rustic charm and as we are working with unique vintage fabrics, no two book bags will be identical.
Bag is washable at 40o and the exterior can be carefully ironed - but don't iron the image. Remove from washing machine immediately upon completion of cycle. Do not tumble dry.
