Redwork Scotty Embroidery Kit

Our Scotty redwork embroidery kit contains everything you'll need to create this wonderful 1930's-style image.....

• Design pre-printed onto vintage linen panel
• Welsh blanket and other softly-hued fabric pieces to create border
• 1 skein Anchor or DMC embroidery floss in dark red (more than sufficient to complete design)
• Embroidery needle
• Drawstring bag to store your project whilst you're working on it
• Cream pre-cut mount and backing board sized to fit standard 12 x 10" frame

Redwork became very popular in the mid 19th century due to the availability of colour-fast red-dyed thread from Turkey.  At that time coloured threads were not generally colour-fast and so couldn't be used on items that needed washing. 

Our design is based on a genuine vintage embroidery pattern and is printed onto a panel of our vintage linen mangle cloth.  The actual Scotty is approximately 6" high and when the whole kit is completed, together with the border it measures approximately 9" x 7" and will fit the pre-cut mount supplied. 

Full instructions are provided with the kit, and best of all - only two stitches are required - one of which is running stitch - the easiest stitch ever - and here it's used to give a really stunning result.
